64 Posts. #6 · (Edited) The vescosity of the chrysler oil is similar to ATF, too bad IIRC it costs 9 bucks a quart. There are issues with not using the chrysler oil, it has something to do with dergents or stabalizers or some other additive. I had a rubicon w/6 speed and the shifting sucked. 1st to 2nd grind and general notchiness. I put in royal purple and it was noticibly better. Don't remember how much, but it was easy to do. Dose any one no what type of manual transmission fluid to put in a tj. in the owners manual it says 75w for the L but the says you can only use mopar manual tranny fluid. what would be the equevalent you could buy at the average.
